วันที่ 24 สิงหาคมของทุกปี ประกาศเป็น "วันวงโยธวาทิตไทย"

ณ ที่ประชุมใหญ่สามัญประจำปี 2567 ของสมาคมวงโยธวาทิตแห่งประเทศไทย ซึ่งจัดขึ้นในวันที่ 5 เมษายน 2568 คณะกรรมการบริหารและสมาชิกสมาคมฯ ได้มีมติเป็นเอกฉันท์เห็นชอบให้มีการประกาศวันที่ 24 สิงหาคมของทุกปีเป็น "วันวงโยธวาทิตไทย" การตัดสินใจครั้งประวัติศาสตร์นี้มีขึ้นเพื่อเป็นการเชิดชูเกียรติ ตอกย้ำถึงความสำคัญของกิจกรรมวงโยธวาทิตที่มีต่อสังคมไทย และเพื่อสร้างการรับรู้ในวงกว้าง อันจะนำไปสู่การส่งเสริมและพัฒนาวงการวงโยธวาทิตของชาติให้ก้าวหน้าอย่างยั่งยืนในอนาคต

ประวัติความเป็นมาและรากฐานสำคัญ
การกำหนดให้วันที่ 24 สิงหาคม มีความสำคัญเชิงสัญลักษณ์อย่างลึกซึ้งต่อวงการวงโยธวาทิตไทย เนื่องจากเป็นวันที่ สมาคมวงโยธวาทิตแห่งประเทศไทย (Marching Band Association of Thailand) ได้รับการอนุมัติและรับรองการจัดตั้งเป็นสมาคมอย่างเป็นทางการจากรัฐบาลไทย เมื่อวันที่ 24 สิงหาคม พ.ศ. 2563 วันดังกล่าวจึงเปรียบเสมือนวันแห่งการสถาปนาองค์กรกลางที่ทำหน้าที่ขับเคลื่อนและดูแลวงการวงโยธวาทิตของประเทศอย่างเป็นรูปธรรม

ก่อนหน้าที่จะมีการจัดตั้งสมาคมฯ อย่างเป็นทางการ กิจกรรมวงโยธวาทิตในประเทศไทยได้มีการพัฒนาและเติบโตอย่างต่อเนื่องมาเป็นระยะเวลายาวนาน โดยมีจุดเริ่มต้นจากการรวมกลุ่มของผู้ทรงคุณวุฒิและผู้คร่ำหวอดในวงการ นำโดย นายโกสินทร์ สืบประสิทธิ์วงศ์ ซึ่งได้ก่อตั้งกลุ่มในชื่อ "Thai Marching Band" ขึ้นในปี พ.ศ. 2546 กลุ่มดังกล่าวมีบทบาทสำคัญในการวางรากฐานผ่านกิจกรรมต่างๆ เช่น การจัดการอบรมให้ความรู้ การสร้างเครือข่ายออนไลน์เพื่อเผยแพร่ข้อมูล และการช่วยเหลือโรงเรียนที่ขาดแคลนผ่านการบริจาคเครื่องดนตรีและจัดหาผู้ฝึกสอน

พัฒนาการที่สำคัญได้เกิดขึ้นในปี พ.ศ. 2553 เมื่อกลุ่ม Thai Marching Band ได้ริเริ่มจัดการประกวดวงโยธวาทิตระดับนานาชาติขึ้นเป็นครั้งแรกในประเทศไทย ภายใต้ชื่อ "Thailand International Marching Band Competition (TIMBC)" ซึ่งต่อมาได้พัฒนาและเปลี่ยนชื่อเป็น "การประกวดวงโยธวาทิตโลก ชิงถ้วยพระราชทานฯ แห่งประเทศไทย" (Thailand World Music Championships - TWMC) ในปี พ.ศ. 2557 เวทีการประกวดนี้ได้กลายเป็นหมุดหมายสำคัญที่ช่วยยกระดับมาตรฐานของวงโยธวาทิตไทยให้ทัดเทียมนานาชาติ และเปิดโอกาสให้เยาวชนไทยได้สัมผัสประสบการณ์การแข่งขันระดับโลกโดยไม่ต้องเดินทางไปต่างประเทศ

ด้วยความมุ่งมั่นที่จะพัฒนากิจกรรมวงโยธวาทิตให้มีศักยภาพและเป็นระบบมากยิ่งขึ้น แนวคิดในการจัดตั้งสมาคมจึงเกิดขึ้นในปี พ.ศ. 2555 และได้ดำเนินกิจกรรมมาอย่างต่อเนื่อง จนกระทั่งได้รับการรับรองอย่างเป็นทางการในวันที่ 24 สิงหาคม พ.ศ. 2563 การเลือกวันนี้เป็น "วันวงโยธวาทิตไทย" จึงเป็นการรำลึกถึงจุดเริ่มต้นแห่งการมีองค์กรกลางที่ชัดเจน และเป็นการให้เกียรติแก่ความพยายามของบุคลากรทุกภาคส่วนที่ร่วมกันผลักดันวงการตลอดมา

ความสำคัญและคุณค่าของวันวงโยธวาทิตไทย
"วันวงโยธวาทิตไทย" ถูกจัดตั้งขึ้นด้วยเจตนารมณ์ที่จะสะท้อนให้เห็นถึงคุณค่าของกิจกรรมวงโยธวาทิตในหลากหลายมิติ ดังนี้

การส่งเสริมศิลปะและวัฒนธรรมดนตรี วงโยธวาทิตเป็นกิจกรรมที่ช่วยเผยแพร่และพัฒนาศิลปะการบรรเลงดนตรีแบบสากลให้เป็นที่แพร่หลายในหมู่เยาวชนและประชาชนทั่วไป สร้างสุนทรียภาพและยกระดับวัฒนธรรมทางดนตรีของชาติ

การปลูกฝังระเบียบวินัยและความสามัคคี หัวใจสำคัญของวงโยธวาทิตคือการทำงานเป็นทีม สมาชิกทุกคนต้องมีวินัยในการฝึกซ้อม มีความรับผิดชอบต่อหน้าที่ของตนเอง มีความอดทน และสามารถประสานงานร่วมกับผู้อื่นได้อย่างเป็นระบบ ซึ่งคุณสมบัติเหล่านี้ล้วนเป็นทักษะชีวิตที่สำคัญ

การสร้างความภาคภูมิใจในชาติ ภาพของวงโยธวาทิตที่สง่างามในพระราชพิธี รัฐพิธี และงานเฉลิมฉลองระดับชาติ เป็นสื่อกลางที่สร้างความรู้สึกภาคภูมิใจในเกียรติยศและวัฒนธรรมของชาติไทยให้ประจักษ์แก่สายตาชาวโลก

การเปิดเวทีแห่งโอกาสให้เยาวชน กิจกรรมวงโยธวาทิตเป็นพื้นที่สำหรับนักเรียน นิสิต นักศึกษา และประชาชนผู้มีใจรักในเสียงดนตรี ได้แสดงออกถึงความสามารถ พัฒนาศักยภาพ และใช้เวลาว่างให้เกิดประโยชน์สูงสุด

การกระตุ้นการพัฒนาและการประกวดเชิงสร้างสรรค์ การมีเวทีประกวดทั้งในระดับประเทศ เช่น Band Competition of Thailand (BCT) และระดับนานาชาติ (TWMC) ที่จัดโดยสมาคมฯ เป็นการกระตุ้นให้เกิดการพัฒนาทางด้านเทคนิคการบรรเลง การออกแบบการแสดง และความคิดสร้างสรรค์อย่างไม่หยุดนิ่ง

การประกาศให้มี "วันวงโยธวาทิตไทย" จึงไม่ใช่เป็นเพียงการกำหนดวันในปฏิทิน แต่คือการสร้างหมุดหมายทางวัฒนธรรมที่จะย้ำเตือนให้สังคมได้ตระหนักถึงความสำคัญของกิจกรรมอันทรงคุณค่านี้ และร่วมกันสนับสนุนให้วงการวงโยธวาทิตของประเทศไทยก้าวเดินไปข้างหน้าอย่างมั่นคงและสง่างามสืบไป

August 24th Announced as "Thailand National Marching Band Day"

At the 2024 Annual General Meeting of the Marching Band Association of Thailand, held on April 5, 2025, the executive committee and participating members unanimously passed a resolution to declare August 24th of each year as "Thailand National Marching Band Day." This historic decision aims to honor and emphasize the importance of marching band activities to Thai society, raise public awareness, and promote the continuous development of this field in the future.

History and Significant Origins
The designation of August 24th holds deep symbolic meaning for the Thai marching band community. It is the date on which the Marching Band Association of Thailand (MBAT) was officially approved and established by the Thai government, on August 24, 2020. This date, therefore, marks the founding of the central organization responsible for formally driving and overseeing the nation's marching band scene.

Prior to the formal establishment of the association, marching band activities in Thailand had been developing and growing for many years. It began with the formation of a group of experts and veterans in the field, led by Mr. Kosin Suebprasitwong, who founded a group called "Thai Marching Band" in 2003. This group played a crucial role in laying the groundwork through various activities, such as organizing training workshops, creating an online network for information dissemination, and assisting underprivileged schools by donating instruments and providing instructors.

A significant development occurred in 2010 when the Thai Marching Band group initiated the first-ever international marching band competition in Thailand, named the "Thailand International Marching Band Competition (TIMBC)." This event later evolved and was renamed the "Thailand World Music Championships (TWMC)" in 2014. This competition became a key platform that helped elevate the standards of Thai marching bands to an international level and provided an opportunity for Thai youth to experience a world-class competition without having to travel abroad.

Driven by a commitment to develop marching band activities with greater potential and structure, the idea of establishing a formal association emerged in 2012. Activities continued under this initiative until official recognition was granted on August 24, 2020. Choosing this date as "Thailand National Marching Band Day" thus commemorates the beginning of a clear, central organization and honors the efforts of all individuals who have contributed to advancing the field over the years.

"Thailand National Marching Band Day" was established with the intention of reflecting the value of marching band activities in multiple dimensions.

Promoting Music Arts and Culture: Marching bands help disseminate and develop the art of Western instrumental music among youth and the general public, fostering aesthetic appreciation and elevating the nation's musical culture.

Instilling Discipline and Unity: The core of a marching band is teamwork. Every member must be disciplined in practice, responsible for their role, patient, and able to coordinate systematically with others—all of which are essential life skills.

Fostering National Pride: The majestic presence of marching bands in royal ceremonies, state functions, and national celebrations serves as a medium that instills a sense of pride in the honor and culture of the Thai nation.

Creating a Platform for Youth: Marching band activities provide a space for students and music-loving citizens to express their talents, develop their potential, and make productive use of their free time.

Stimulating Creative Development and Competition: The existence of both national competitions, such as the Band Competition of Thailand (BCT), and international ones (TWMC), organized by the association, stimulates continuous development in musical technique, show design, and creativity.

The declaration of "Thailand National Marching Band Day" is more than just marking a date on the calendar; it is the creation of a cultural milestone. It serves as a reminder to society of the importance of this valuable activity and encourages collective support to ensure that Thailand's marching band community moves forward with strength and dignity.
